Frosted Glass Effect Highlight: 2D

To truly appreciate our 2D effect, we need to compare it to 1D. Our 1D effect shows the design as solid, white, shapes. Known as a single stage, sandblast, with 1D, the artist etches the glass overall across large sections, much like when you spray paint with a stencil. Our 1D effect is far different than the stage sandblasting, and intricate work, of 2D and 3D Enhanced, where the artist works on one small segment at a time.

With our 2D Frosted Glass Design Effect, the artist implements “shading”, where the sandblast density gently fades out to clear glass, creating a “gradient-like” effect, that adds a high level of intricacy and detail, to the finished look. Using the technique of gradient shading alone, each shape and segment, is individually etched-with-a-gradient, but without the carved edges seen in 3D Enhanced. Requiring the same amount of skill (but less time), our 2D effect allows us to offer a detailed and enriched look, at a lower price than 3D Enhanced. But it’s a much finer, far more detailed look, than 1D.

2D Effect On 3 Different Backgrounds (a.k.a. “Glass Finishes”)

Now, let’s take a look at our 2D Effect, on each of the 3 glass backgrounds or glass finishes we offer, that create 3 different levels of privacy.

Clear Glass Background

Below is our 2D on a Clear Glass Background. This effect is considered semi-private, as the clear glass background areas of the glass, will vary by design.

Gluechip Glass Background

Next in line for our 2D semi-private effects, is 2D on Gluechip Glass. The 2D sandblasted design is surrounded by a Gluechip finish as the background. The Gluechip Finish is a beautiful, sparkling, fern-like texture. A natural occurring process, Gluechip not only creates obscurity, but adds another element of beauty and luster to the glass. Objects behind, become blurred, when 10-12” away from the glass. Design elements and the Gluechip background, are separated by an 1/8” clear pinstripe. Objects can be seen when held right up against the glass, and if you approach the glass and peer thru, you can see thru the 1/8” clear pinstripes. For this reason, this glass is considered semi private.

Frosted Glass Background

Finally, we have our 2D Frosted Glass, or 2D Private Effect. Our 2D Effect, is Sandblasted on Acid Etched Glass. The acid etch frosted finish is on the other (or opposite surface) than the sandblasted side, and creates 100% obscurity in the glass. Objects are only visible when pressed right up against the glass. Once a few inches away, objects can’t be seen at all. This makes our 2D Frosted the perfect solution where you need privacy, without blocking light.
