Walking on Glass
At Scotland’s busiest station, Glasgow Central, are displaying their glass roof, built in 1879 with 48,000 panels, and will be included in next month’s Doors Open Days on September 21-22, a celebration where buildings are open to visitors but closed to the public. Visitors will be given the opportunity to walk on top of the largest glass roof in the world. It is currently undergoing a six-month £250,000 clean for next year’s Commonwealth Games.
Although this roof is exceptionally beautiful all by itself, what would bring more visitors to this historical piece would be a some designs from Sans Soucies Art Glass. The artist have the talent to add any sort of carvings or etchings, much similar to these marvelous designs.
