Thinking about putting a glass door or decorative etched glass window?  Entering a building by breaking glass is usually NOT the first choice for burglars, so don’t be afraid of putting in a glass door or a large bay window somewhere in your home.   Not only that, but that was one of the first reasons etched glass was created!  To create a deterrent, but also privacy from what was going on inside pubs and saloons!  It’s true!  Etched glass doors and glass windows with frosting create obscurity and so not only are you safe, but you get privacy to boot!  Here’s a few more helpful tips to keep your home from being desirable to burglars.

One of the first things that burglars look for is a hiding place, then a quick way in and out of the home. Start with trimming your hedges so that they don’t cover any of the windows. A low-growing “thorny” bushes near the windows is also a great deterrent. The next step would be to secure all the doors and windows. By putting in dead bolt locks,  locking mechanism distinct from a spring bolt-lock, on all doors. Be careful though because if the receiver hole in the door frame is deep enough to properly engage the throw of the dead bolt the lock may become deficient.
